Elaine Christensen
Elaine Wright Christensen’s first book, At the Edges, won the Utah State Poetry Society book award in 1990 and her second, I Have Learned Five Things (1996), won the National Federation of Poetry Societies’ Stevens manuscript contest in 1995. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals, including the Ensign, Weber Studies, Ellipsis, Dialogue, Petroglyph, and The Comstock Review, where in fall 2000 she placed first in the Muriel Craft Bailey Memorial Award contest judged by Stephen Dobyns. She received a bachelor’s degree in German and English from Utah State University. A mother of five and grandmother of five, she currently resides in Long Beach, California, where her husband is serving as mission president. They will return to their home in Sandy, Utah, when their mission is completed. [from Discoveries: Two Centuries of Poems by Mormon Women, 106-7]
