Parley P. Pratt
A serious seeker after truth, Pratt joined the disciples on hearing the preaching of Sidney Rigdon and decided to devote his life to the ministry. However, in 1830 he met Hyrum Smith and Oliver Cowdrey and was baptized a member of the Church. He was soon called to be one of the Twelve Apostles, a calling in which he labored until his assassination in 1857. His hymns, dialogues and Autobiography proclaim Pratt as on of the keenest and most literary minds of the Church in the early period.
