Description
This genre describes all fictionalized narratives that are based on scriptural accounts in the Bible (by Mormon authors or from a Mormon point of view), and in the Book of Mormon or other Latter-day scripture. This does not include historical fiction, a closely related subgenre, in which events from Church history are dramatized or fictionalized.

Genre History
Retellings of scriptural accounts both from the Bible (such as Orson Scott Card's Sarah or Stone Tables) and from the Book of Mormon (such as Keith C. Terry's The Remnant or Chris Heimerdinger's Tennis Shoes Adventure series) have become a popular genre in recent years, especially for many works directed at younger readers. B.H. Roberts was the most prominent early author in this genre, composing a serialized novel published in the Contributor magazine starting in 1889 and based around the controversial Book of Mormon character, Corianton.
