Description
As a rule, the Mormon Literature Database does not include works of theology or apologetics. However, certain works are included because a case has been made for the literary quality of those works, or because these have become a significant part of Mormon cultural history. The MLDB also excludes anti-Mormon works of theology (however, all works of a fictional nature are included wether or not they are favorable to Mormonism). |

Genre History
From its earliest times, Mormonism has attracted very literate and literary members, and consequently as Mormons began to publish missionary tracts, defenses of the faith, and theological works, these were often composed in a vivid literary style that makes them of interest for more than their immediate religious purposes. Important figures composing such literary theology include Parley P. Pratt, B. H. Roberts, and James E. Talmage. |
