In Search of History: The Mormon Rebellion

Summary:
In 1857, 120 men, women and children were brutally murdered in western Utah. It was the bloodiest attack on a wagon train in the history of the West. They were victims of a civil war that has almost been forgotton. America's fierstest confrontation between church and state, came to be known as the Mormon Rebellion.

This historical documentary recounts the early history of the LDS Church leading up to its 1857 conflict with President James Buchanan. It deals in detail with the arrival of Johnston's army in Utah territory and the Mountain Meadows Massacre and its aftermath through the 1870s.

Annotations:
Made by A & E, this aired on the History Channel as part of the series "In Search of History." It is a traditional historical documentary, but one of very few films that links the 1857 Utah Expedition and the Mountain Meadows Massacre (also the comparison with the Haun's Mill Massacre). It attempts to be unbiased on both sides.
