Text from cover:
Summer for 14-year-old Scott, Pete, Eldon and Lanny means having fun and helping those in need around town. The boys become known as "The ButterCream Gang," a term coined during the early days of Elk Ridge when the local minister asked boys to help widows churn their cream into butter. Then Pete makes somenew friends and forms a very different kind of gang. But Scott, Eldon and Lanny won't give up on their friend, and they strive, with help from their community, to bring Pete back to his former values. Will they succeed? This is a moving story of love and devotion to friendship.
