Pride and Prejudice: A Latter Day Comedy

Summary:
Based on the Jane Austen novel. Elizabeth Bennet is a hard-working college student and aspiring novelist who is determined to ignore the frenzied dating scene in her town, a covert Provo, Utah. Though she is enticed by playboy Wickham, when she meets the British Darcy, a sensible businessman, her carefully constructed world flies to pieces. When she is finally won over to the Darcy, she believes him to be engaged to someone else, and then there is a rush to Las Vegas to prevent Wickham from marrying her roommate Lydia.

From the cover: "In this modern-day makeover of Jane Austen's timeless tale, Elizabeth Bennet is determined to ignore the frenzied follies of dating and focus on her studies and friends. Will Darcy is an attractive and sensible young businessman who would be the perfect match for Elizabeth, if not for a disastrous first impression. Will the most daunting obstacle to romance be his pride or her prejudice?"

Annotations:
This is Andrew Black's first theatrical feature film. It is also the first post-God's Army LDS feature film taken from a non-LDS source. In doing so many aspects of the novel are altered, particularly in who marries whom, or the fact that the girls are now roommates instead of sisters.

LDS content was minimal in the theatrical release and was further reduced for the DVD. To access the original theatrical version (with more references to pioneers, missions, etc.), one must go to the Chapter Selections, then the second page (chapters 5-8), then double click down so that a CTR ring appears on Lydia's finger, then Select. This is called "The Restoration Version," pun surely intended.

Quotes:
Love has met its match.
